JANUARY - JUNE, 2008 CLASS SUPPLY LIST
(IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER)

For all classes, bring:
magnifying glasses and/or an extra light with an extension cord if you need them - seeing is very important!

For all seed beading classes, you will need:
a needle and thread (your choice if not specified)
a work surface and small sharp scissors (bring your own or we have these for use in class)
beeswax or Thread Heaven if you use them

BANGLE BRACELET
1 ft. 16ga round copper wire for Swan Clasp and Dangle Charm
1 ft. 14ga round copper wire
Steel Bench Block and Chasing hammer (will be provided for your use during class)
7 - 11 beads of your choice with holes large enough to fit through 14ga wire - the number of beads needed will depend on the size of your wrist and the size of the beads as they will fill the bangle.

BASIC STRINGING
Choose from class beads for flat rate of $20 or choose from store - accent beads, filler beads and a focal bead if desired.
Stringing material is provided

BOX AND BYZANTINE CHAINS
Brass jump rings for two bracelets will be provided by teacher for $33. Please bring cash or check to pay teacher directly. (Clasp is not included.)

100 4mm bicone crystals
8 grams Japanese 11/0 cylinder beads
4 strand tube clasp
6 lb. test Fireline (choose the most suitable color for your crystals)

EGYPTIAN SPIRAL BRACELET
The following supplies will be available for use during class:

Round nose pliers, Flat nose pliers, Chain nose pliers, Flush cutters
Steel bench block
Chasing hammer
Liver of sulphur and #0000 steel wool
The remaining supplies need to be purchased by each student:
Wire: for 21 links
3 1/2 ft of 18 gauge 1/2 round sterling silver wire
8 ft of 20 gauge round soft sterling silver wire (add 4 1/2 inches for each additional link)
5 inches of 16 gauge round soft sterling silver wire, for clasp

EUROPEAN SIX IN ONE
Brass jump rings to make a 3 inch sample and an 8 inch bracelet will be provided by the teacher for $28. Please bring cash or check to pay teacher directly. (Clasp is not included.)

FANCIFUL DREAM SPIRAL
4 feet 28g artistic or craft wire
1 foot 18g or heavier artistic or craft wire
1 foot 20g half hard wire for earwires
a variety of crystal or other beads for the spiral
a variety of crystals, beads or charms for the drops
Hammers, bench blocks, ear wire tools and other tools will be available for use during class and also for purchase

FINE SILVER RINGS
$25 materials fee includes PMC, use of tools, written instructions and multiple firings. Please bring cash or check to pay teacher directly.

11/0 seed beads – 2 or more colors
an assortment of crystals (8 - 10 mm rounds work well for centers), pearls and other beads for embellishment and the necklace

HELEN'S HOOPS
The following supplies will be available for use during class:

5/8" Dowel rod (measured across top)

Round nose pliers, flat nose pliers and flush cutters.

3ft of 24 gauge round sterling silver wire soft or 1/2 hard
10 inches of 20 or 21 gauge round sterling silver 1/2 hard wire
5ft 28 gauge round sterling silver wire
12 3mm sterling silver beads
28 3mm beads of your choice

HUNGARIAN LACE NECKLACE
Size 11 seed beads in two colors
Approximately 26 briolettes
beading needle
nymo, fireline or other beading thread

INTRO TO WIRE TECHNIQUES - parts I & II
Students should bring:
6” ruler
permanent marking pen (Sharpie)
notebook & pencil or pen
copper round wire: 16 gauge, 18 gauge and 20 gauge — at least 3’ of each - more is better to allow for practice. (Copper is the most reasonably priced for practice, you can also use dead-soft sterling silver or gold filled wire, not half hard.)
flush cutters suitable for cutting up to 16-gauge wire
extra-long round-nose pliers
mandral – aluminum knitting needles (short works fine, size 10 or 11) or any other smooth round object to wrap wire around

Students may also bring the following, or borrow from Bead in Hand to use in class:
metal files
jewelry pliers: small round-nose, chain-nose, and flat-nose
polishing cloth (sunshine cloth is an example)
fabric placemat to work on or other soft work surface

The following items are needed for hardening soft wires – copper, silver or gold filled – and will be made available by the teacher for use during class:
chasing hammer with convex (slightly rounded) head
plastic mallet or hammer
steel bench block, 2½”x 2½” or jeweler's anvil

JAPANESE WEAVE
Brass jump rings to make an 8 inch bracelet will be provided by the teacher for $33. Please bring cash or check to pay teacher directly. (Clasp is not included.)

KNOTTING
11-21 beads for a "floating" necklace; enough beads for desired length if making a continuously knotted necklace.

60-80 larger beads, they can be as small as a size 8 seed beads up to as large as 6 mm firepolish beads

ORGANIC FINGER WOVEN BRACELET
$10 material fee (to be paid to teacher - please bring cash or check) includes weight, needles, thread, and mat board.
Other materials needed: assorted beads and size 11 seed beads.

RIGHT ANGLE WEAVE
Size 11 seed beads
4 mm crystal beads, if desired

ROSARY/BEAD LINKS AND CHAIN NECKLACE
For a rosary:
53 small beads (around 6-8 mm)
6 larger beads
A two to one connector (Virgin Mary)
A cross
22 gauge sterling or goldfilled wire
12" chain, if desired

For a bead links and chain necklace:
small beads (around 6-8 mm: number is determined by length of necklace desired
22 gauge sterling or goldfilled wire
clasp

SEED BEADING STITCHES
Depending on the stitch you want to learn, you will need nymo thread, beading needles and the following:
Brick Stitch - One or more tubes size 8 seed beads in one or more colors(size 8 triangular and hex work very well)
beading needle
Ndebele - 1 or 2 colors of size 8 seed beads (1 tube each)
Peyote - 1 or 2 colors of delica beads- size 8 or 11 (1 tube each)
Square Stitch - 2 colors of either 3mm or 4mm cube beads (1 tube each)

SPIRAL EARRINGS AND BEAD RING
For the earrings: 10 inches 20 gauge soft round sterling or gold-filled wire and two 3mm sterling, gold-filled, stone or glass beads.
For the ring: 10.5 inches 20 gauge soft round sterling silver or gold-filled soft wire (for a size 5 ring – add .5 inch per size larger than 5) and one 6 or 7mm bead of your choice.

The following tools will be provided for your use during class: fine line permanent marker, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, flush cutters, a 6" metal jeweler's ruler, chain nose pliers, ring mandrel, raw hide mallet, vise and masking tape

TUBULAR MESH NECKLACE
1 package tubular mesh
10 to 12” ribbon or bead cord
2 8mm or larger beads
2 large hole beads
8 to 10 smaller beads, about 5 to 7mm
Big eye needle
3” of 22 or 24 gauge wire
2 small cones, bead caps or large-hole beads with holes large enough to cover a knot
1 clasp

TURKISH ROUND
Brass jump rings to make an 8 inch bracelet will be provided by the teacher for $22. Please bring cash or check to pay teacher directly. (Clasp is not included.)

TWISTED CHAIN MAILLE WITH BEADS
The possibilities are endless and the choice is yours – you definitely need jump rings, 22 or 24 gauge wire, an assortment of beads and a clasp.

WIRE EARRINGS
20 gauge wire (min would be about 3 ft)
hammer & bench block (will be provided for your use during class)
beads, if desired, with holes large enough to fit on 20 gauge wire

WIRE WRAPPED PENDANTS
Craft, copper or brass wire included
1 or more cabochons and a large stone with rough surface
24g sterling or goldfilled wire, if desired
